Sustainable Marine Fuels. Ready when you are.
At VARO, we help shipping companies decarbonise now. Our sustainable marine fuels are drop-in solutions, fully compatible with existing ship engines and infrastructure. That means no costly modifications or retrofits.
We supply a complete range of sustainable marine fuels across the ARA region and Northern Germany, and in Germany we also offer conventional marine fuels. All our fuels meet strict quality standards. Our sustainable solutions are certified and support compliance with EU ETS, FuelEU Maritime and future IMO requirements.
VARO’s Marine product portfolio
Whether you are looking for reliable supply of conventional marine fuels or access to sustainable fuels to comply with FuelEU Maritime obligations, VARO offers an extensive range of marine fuels. All ready to perform.
We offer FAME based EN14214 BMF24, BMF30 and BMF100 or any other blend on request. What makes our portfolio truly unique, is that we also offer a range of blended biofuels which have been developed by our marine blending experts. These blended biofuels meet our own high quality standards and are widely accepted by major names in the industry for years. Our drop-in biofuels are made from 100% waste and residue feedstocks and reduce GHG emission up to 93% (well-to-wake)* No engine modifications are required.
Key benefits:
- Derived from 100% waste & residue feedstocks (non-food, non-feed).
- Competitive pricing vs. FAME.
- Well-to-wake GHG reduction of 85-93% vs. conventional fuels.
- Zero tank-to-wake emissions EU-ETS (RED certified biofuels 0 gCO₂eq/MJ).
- Possibility to create overcompliance to use for banking or compliance pools.
- Our blended biofuels use feedstocks which do not compete with road and aviation.
VARO’s Bio-LNG is produced from European biomethane, sourced through our own trading desk from a network of European producers. As a scalable and flexible alternative to fossil LNG, mass-balanced Bio-LNG enables up to 200% reduction in GHG emissions. Fully compatible with existing LNG engines and infrastructure, it requires no modifications.
Key benefits:
- Mass-balanced Bio-LNG, produced from European biomethane liquefied at LNG terminals.
- Can be produced from a wide range of waste & residue feedstock.
- Well-to-wake GHG up to 200% with a GHG footprint ranging from -100 to +30 gCO₂eq /MJ, depending on feedstock and production process.
- Zero tank-to-wake emissions EU-ETS (RED certified biofuels 0 gCO₂eq/MJ). Possibility to create overcompliance to use for banking or compliance.
- Drop-in fuel that requires no engine or infrastructure modifications.
