VARO Energy, an integrated oil refiner and supplier serving North West Europe, has announced the appointment of David Newton as new Chief Information Officer (CIO) with immediate effect, following an interim assignment for this position since December 2015.

Mr. Newton looks back on more than 25 years’ experience in the software industry, mainly in the commodities sector. Trading systems architecture, software selections or the implementation of challenging systems are part of his core competences, which will be helpful to further integrate and develop the different IT-systems within the group.

VARO Energy-CEO Roger Brown commented: “It’s a real pleasure to have David join VARO Energy on a permanent basis. David will lead the Information Systems team and operations and be responsible for VARO’s long-term information technology roadmap to further support our strategy. I am sure that David will also be a valuable member of our management team and a strong ambassador of our corporate values, which are an essential part of our culture.”

“I am very excited to be a part of such a fast growing and successful downstream organisation,” Newton said. “I truly look forward to be part of this inspiring team.”
